Terms of Service
These terms are a contract between you and Family Tracker ("we"), covering the app at app.familytracker.org and this website. By creating an account you accept them. How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
1. What the service is
Family Tracker shows the members of a circle to each other on a shared map, with alerts the circle agrees to. It is a convenience, not a safety system. Do not rely on it in an emergency: call your local emergency number.
2. Sharing happens by invitation only
- You may add someone only by sending an invitation they accept on their own device.
- You may not use the service to locate a person who has not accepted, or to keep someone in a circle against their wishes.
- You may not set up or manage the account of an adult who has not agreed to it.
- Everyone in a circle can see who can see them. Attempting to work around that is a breach of these terms.
3. Your account
Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us if you lose control of them. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including invitations sent from it.
4. Paid plans
Some features are part of a paid plan. Plans are billed through the app store or payment provider shown in the app, renew until cancelled, and can be cancelled there at any time; cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves the current period running. SOS is part of every plan.
5. What we do not promise
Positions come from phones, and phones lose signal, run out of battery and have permissions switched off. We do not promise that a position is available, current or accurate, and we do not promise that a notification arrives. The service is provided as it is.
6. Ending it
You can delete your account at any time — see Delete your account. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, in particular the rules in section 2.
7. Liability
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
8. Which law applies
The law of the country where you live applies to these terms, and you can bring proceedings in the courts there. Nothing in these terms takes away consumer protections you have under that law.
